Weird pattern on 32x32 panel

On trying out the pattern_test, I am getting the following result:

I have tried iterating through different combinations of following:
MuxPattern {BINARY, STRAIGHT}
ScanPattern {LINE, ZIGZAG,ZZAGG, ZAGGIZ, WZAGZIG, VZAG, ZAGZIG}
setRotate {true, false}
setFlip {true, false}

Is it just a weird panel or am I missing anything? I would truly appreciate any help around this :)

Setup:
ESP32, P6 32x32: 1/8 scan, PxMatrix 1.8.1

PS: I vaguely remember being able to run it without any issues with RPi few years back.
