Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Current version of the extension doesn't allow you to initiate a DevTools project so the manual command need to run or the project should be already a DevTools project.

A way to initiate a new DevTools project using the extension

Using this webview with a button saying something similar to "Initiate DevTools Project"
