[suggestion:] Skip-Immersion Modifier Key #76

First of all: Thanks for this very nice addon! Despite having been using your ‘Waypoint UI’ for quite a while, I discovered this one only recently 🙄.

There is a sort of questing/quests where any “immersion effect” seems inadequate, and rather disturbing. Namely, these are the typical daily quests.

This has already been mentioned by Mansamonso in a CF comment. He calls this “‘Just get shit done’ option”.

In addition, there are quite a few addons that allow to set a modifier key to auto-accept quests and/or auto-select a single-choice gossip option. Personally, I use LeatrixPlus for that, with Alt as modifier key; and most of the quests where I Alt-click are daily quests.

This means, when I click a quest NPC with Alt down, the gossip frame opens, Interaction’s immersion effects kick in, but only for 0.3 seconds or so, as the the quest is auto-accepted and the window auto-closed. These 0.3 seconds of “immersion” (e.g. screen darkening) are rather irritating than immersive 😉.

Suggested solution(s):

  • Simple: Allow a configurable “Skip Immersion Effects” modifier key.
  • Advanced: Integrate an auto-accept/auto-gossip functionality via configurable modifier key (if well done, this will make using a dedicated auto-accept via 3rd-party addons superfluos). The modifier for this should also skip immersion effects.

These two things are combinable, so that the user has the option to set a different modifier key for each; this would allow us to skip immersion effects also for a quest that we don’t want to auto-accept.

In case you like my suggestion, don’t forget the Command1 modifier key on macOS 😉.

And, thanks again 🥰 for the great addon!

Footnotes

  1. The function is IsMetaKeyDown(), the test for macOS is IsMacClient().
