Talk proposal: The Web Is Your Ally #539

Description

@julianburr

Strictly speaking not a JS talk (so all good if you think it's not a good fit for the meetup), but adjacent. The core idea is to show off some latest HTML/CSS examples of components we often rebuild ourselves with a lot of JS (e.g. accordions, carousels, custom inputs / selects, etc), where using built-in solutions can help us not only reduce code, but also get a lot of a11y benefits out of the box. I'm currently refining this talk for a conference in March and would be happy to give it at BrisJS if you need to fill a spot :)

Presenter Name: Julian Burr
Talk title: The Web Is Your Ally - Building Accessible Web Apps By Using the Platform
Talk length: 20 min

Talk description:
The web comes accessible out of the box, we just need to know how to use it. With modern advancements in HTML, CSS, and even JS, the tools to build an inclusive experience are more powerful than ever. More accessibility means increased usability for everyone, so let’s explore these new tools and best practices, and how they can help us create a better and inclusive web.
