Reasoning
- Gartner’s 2022 SSE Magic Quadrant shows CASB as a feature now and converging with SWG and ZTNA.
- Inline CASB was always proxy driven with the goal of protecting users as they accessed SaaS applications. These proxies are now part of SSE.
- Discovery CASB solutions have an API component for DLP Data Discovery, so this feature is now being replaced by DSPM vendors.
Suggestion
Replace CASB with Network DLP and Data Discovery Platforms.
An alternate for Network DLP, the newest term being used, is Security Service Edge, and this typically includes Network DLP.
An alternate for Data Discovery Platforms, the newest term being used, is Data security posture management (DSPM), but the adoption of the DSPM term isn't as mature as SSE.
