Request: Update Tiny Computer to Debian 13 & Global Release
Introduction
The Tiny Computer project has already proven to be a powerful solution for running a full Linux desktop environment on Android devices. With Debian 12 support, it has enabled users to experience a lightweight yet robust computing environment. As Debian 13 approaches, updating the project to this latest release would ensure long-term stability, security, and relevance.
Proposal for Update
We respectfully request that the maintainers consider:
- Upgrading to Debian 13 (Trixie): Ensuring compatibility with the latest packages, libraries, and kernel improvements.
- Global Release: Expanding availability beyond the current regional focus to make Tiny Computer accessible worldwide.
Recommended Configurations for Global Use
To maximize adoption and usability across diverse regions, the following configurations are suggested:
- 🌍 Multilingual Support: Expand beyond English and Chinese to include major world languages.
- 🛡️ Compliance: Align with international app store requirements (Google Play, F-Droid) and local privacy laws.
- ⚡ Performance Optimization: Improve resource handling for mid-range devices to ensure smooth operation.
- 🖥️ UI/UX Enhancements: Localize hints, menus, and documentation for relevance.
- 📡 Server Infrastructure: Provide global mirrors/CDN for faster downloads and updates.
- 🤝 Community Support: Establish multilingual support channels and encourage contributions from international developers.
Stability & Improvement Goals
- Security: Harden sandboxing and package verification for global users.
- Reliability: Reduce crashes and improve proot/container stability.
- Scalability: Ensure smooth performance across a wide range of Android devices.
- Documentation: Provide clear guides for installation, configuration, and troubleshooting in multiple languages.
Conclusion
Updating Tiny Computer to Debian 13 and preparing it for a global release would unlock tremendous opportunities for growth, innovation, and user satisfaction. This step would not only modernize the project but also establish it as a truly international mobile computing solution.
