How can I switch the ollama model into Gemini cloud or Groq cloud one? mainly groq cloud one?? as I don't have an AI workstation something :( and also money to pay for openai and other paid models

Also I realised by seeing others video and your source code that for beginners linking n8n mcp to your ai agent can help us to build own tools without knowing how to code

This is on the roadmap! Groq is a great option since they have a generous free tier and LiveKit has a Groq plugin. The main challenge is CAAL uses a custom LLM wrapper for tool calling that would need adaptation.

For now, if you have a decent CPU, you could try running smaller models locally with Ollama (like qwen2.5:3b or phi3:mini), though response times will be slower.

I'm thinking about a week for the Groq integration.

Re: n8n MCP for beginners

Exactly right - that's the whole point of the n8n integration. You can build tools visually in n8n without writing any code, and CAAL discovers them automatically via MCP. The n8n-workflows/ folder has examples to get started. You can also use the n8n_create_caal_tool workflow. It is currently set up for Claude Code in the ssh nodes but you can change that to Gemini CLI, which on Linux has a free tier. With this workflow you can ask CAAL to build its own tools, you can use the chat feature in the web frontend to type the request for the tool which might be easier than speaking it, so you can craft it. Can also just call the webhook directly with your tool description or bypass the node entirely.

@NotAlreadyG - the Groq implementation is ready. PR #21 adds full Groq support for LLM and STT. Would you be up for testing it?

My name is Michel-Marie Maudet. I am French and I work for an open source software provider, LINAGORA (https://www.linagora.com/), which develops the Twake.ai solution (https://www.twake.ai/). It is an alternative to Office 365.

Congratulations for Caal and the idea of creating a personal assistant that can leverage the capabilities of n8n and the MCP protocol, all based on a Livekit architecture. These are technologies at the heart of our technology roadmap.

I find your approach very interesting, as it allows for voice control in addition to automation with Home Assistant or other elements of one's personal life, but also an open-source digital workplace such as Twake.ai. So I first worked on making it easier to deploy Caal for development.

I am currently finalizing an important pull request to add multilingual support for English and French at a minimum.

Next, the idea is to contribute to certain n8n automations that I use a lot, both personally and with our customers in France.

The ultimate goal is to be able to control both my personal tools and, above all, my digital workplace, my work environment with emails, calendar, drive, and office suite using voice commands.

Michel-Marie, nice to meet you and thank you for the context - this makes a lot of sense now.

The vision for CAAL is exactly that - voice control for both personal life and digital workplace. Home automation, calendars, media on one side. Emails, documents, collaboration tools on the other. Same interface, same architecture.

Your contributions have been excellent - distributed deployment, Apple Silicon fixes, and now i18n. Looking forward to the French support and the n8n automations you mentioned. I will be reviewing your recent PRs later today, just balancing with also filming follow up content.
