[BUG] Audio key error, code: 1

Starting today, I am getting this error for every track I try to download with a free spotify account. It worked literally just yesterday

⢿ Fetching track... Audio key error, code: 1

I just tested with a premium account and it does work. I think spotify has ditched librespot support for free accounts

Do you know if Free accounts will ever work again? I got the same problem as you with audio error key, code: 1. You said that i worked with a premium account, is there any other fix or is it because of spotifys policies?

As far as I understand:

All these spotify downloaders work with some fork of the librespot lib (in the case of zotify, librespot-python). This library allows for arbitrary creating a spotify connect device, which is supposed to be a premium-only feature. But for some weird reason it used to work until a couple days ago. Maybe spotify started actually enforcing the restriction.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the lawsuit against Revanced? In order to keep a copyright, you must defend it 🤷

Tried fixing it by updating the build_request method but that's not enough. I am curious if it still works with Premium if someone can confirm

It does, but I had to run it "in realtime" if i was doing more than about 30 or 40 otherwise it gets rate limited for about 10 minutes.
