I've read part of the source codes of API 8 and I realize that it is too difficult to maintain a code base that is compatible with both API 5 and API 8. VirtualChest will still be compatible with API 5 until servers using 1.13 (based on API 8) reach a certain percentage and there are not many servers using 1.10 (based on API 5). At that time, the code base will be directly based on API 7 and API 8, and no longer supports API 5 (and API 6).
