Describe the bug

After upgrading to BIOS 4.02 from 3.07 the dock no longer worked under both Windows 11 and Ubuntu. The dock was working with BIOS 3.07, and worked again when I downgraded 4.02 -> 3.07.

Under windows the "Problem with thunderbolt device" dialog would rapidly appear and disappear while making the plugged in/disconnected sound. Under ubuntu the computer did not appear to do anything when the dock was plugged in.

I am experiencing the same issue after updating to 4.02. My Anker Prime DL7400 (https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Docking-Station-Triple-Display/dp/B0DTSZC5Y7) dock stops working -- in windows it makes the same connect/disconnect sound. The displays do not work in either Windows 11 (10.0.26200, Build 26200) or Fedora 43 KDE Plasma. Dock was working in OS prior to the BIOS upgrade to 4.02.

I have Framework 16 with the Ryzen 9 7940HS, 2xCORSAIR Vengeance DDR5 (CMSX16GX5M1A5600C48), WD Black SN850X 1TB, WD Black SN770M 1TB - No extra GPU module.

Slot 2- USB-A (silver) bluetooth usb dongle
Slot 3- Audio Jack (silver)
Slot 4- USB-C (orange)
Slot 5- HDMI (silver)
Slot 6- Ethernet Port (clear)

Upgraded Network card to AX210 Wifi card

ANSI US Backlit Keyboard, Gen 1 Keypad (no backlight)

Touchpad is center aligned with spacers on both sides.

Can confirm downgrade to 3.07 restores connectivity.

Edit: Status - resolved.

I'm also seeing a similar issue with connecting a thunderbolt monitor LG Ultrafine 24" (Model 24MD4KL). It's connected via Port 1 via a usb-c expansion card. Formerly working with bios version 3.xx but does not display anything on the monitor with bios version 4.02. Incidentally peripherals connected via the monitor are detected and usable.

I'm on the Framework 16 with the Ryzen 9 7840HS, 2 x Kingston FURY KF556S40IB-32 DDR5-5600
CL40, WD Black SN850X 1TB, Sabrent SB-2130-iTB - No extra GPU module, running NixOs.

Slot 3 - USB-A
Slot 4 - USB-C

Edit: This was solved by replacing the USB-C cable and blacklisting the ucsi_acpi kernel module. Even though the previous cable (without blacklisting any kernel modules) worked prior to the latest bios update, it was finicky and would not always trigger DP alt-mode.
