Sitecore 8.2 - Deployer v1.7 - Package fail to install

Hi,

Am trying to use the deployer with Sitecore 8.2 , deployer version 1.7 but it is not working.
when i review the sitecore log this is what i see:

Also, i noticed that the _DEV files does not contain the DeployItems.xml even though during the installation progress i can see it is installing it.

Hi Faldeen,
It looks like the installer is stuck in the "installing" state. We have seen this happen occasionally, but we can't reproduce the problem. This can be resolved by browsing the url http://[website]/Sitecore/Admin/StartSitecorePackageDeployer.aspx?force=1 This will reset the installer state. If this happens again. I recommend that you take a look at the Sitecore logs to see where the installer gets confused. If you can let us know what is happening, we can take a look at resolving the problem.

Hello Charlie,

Thanks for the tips. It started to work after that. However I have a little doubt.

Do I need to trigger this force start before each package installation. I have noticed that after a package installation or an error, it again goes onto a freeze mode like. I need to use the URL to reset the installer and then package install is progressed.

Can you send us excerpts from your Sitecore logs where the installer is failing? I would like to see lines where the installer is mentioned. Since the installer may restart Sitecore, lines from the restart log would be helpful.

Thanks @cturano for the ?force=1 trick. We were experiencing an issue where the installer was stuck in the installing state even after multiple restarts of Sitecore & IIS. We believe it was initially due to Windows Authentication being applied to certain Sitecore directories.

One of the issues we saw was a buffer overflow due to an error in FileWatcher because of too many changes in the /Website folder.

I will be sure to inform you if I see anything else.

This definitely does happen when Windows Authentication is turned on the /login and /shell folders. Have you any guidelines on how we should have our setup configured in order to support Windows Authentication while using this? Much appreciated.

Hello Charles, Am facing an issue with the TDS SitecorePackageDeployer. I have installed the 1.7 SitecorePackageDeployer. The ".update" files are being properly copied. However the install is failing. When i look at the log, i can see a system io crash. please find same attached. Can you please help out here. Faldeen

Hello,
I am trying to install the latest version of Team Development for Sitecore (TDS 5.7.0.24) . My visual studio version is 2017 and using Dot Net framework 4.5.2. I am facing issue in installing TDS. When I am trying to finish the installation, below VSIX Installer is popped up and appears to be frozen for long time without showing any progress.

Please let me know if there is any way to resolve this issue.
