Unfortunately, this isn't something ICM can support - browser extensions don't have the permissions required to monitor or control network/VPN connections at the OS level, or to disconnect the user's internet. That kind of functionality requires a native application with system-level access, which is outside the scope of what a Chrome extension is allowed to do. A dedicated VPN client or a native app paired with a browser extension would be the right tool for a kill switch like this. Closing for now, but appreciate the suggestion! |

Wow! I really like ICM. It's obvious that you have created, updated, and maintained this baby for many years. You must be proud of your creation. I found it, indirectly, while searching for "kill switch" for a VPN browser proxy extension. Ever noticed how many of these extensions are on the CWS? Important as they are to the security of a VPN, just a few of these extensions have built-in kill switches. See where I'm going with this?
Your ICM extension could easily be adapted to include the features of a kill switch, which basically monitors the VPN server's IP address. If that IP address changes to the ISP server's or any other server's IP address, the VPN connection is no longer secure. At that point the kill switch should either disconnect the user's Internet connection or reconnect to a safe, trusted website, such as, 185.199.108.153 (https://internetmon.org/).
