Node-Red Flows Examples

Hello,

In the instructions for this plug-in you show some examples of the node-red integration. Would it be possible to upload the contents of the flows? I'm just getting started with node-red and I'd like to see a few examples of how it would integrate?

Specifically, I'd like to play with the "angle" change to control brightness with the Cube T1-Pro.

You can paste import the JSON into NodeRED, and edit to fit your situation.

You need to install two modules to connect with HA and zigbee2mqtt:

• node-red-contrib-home-assistant-websocket
• node-red-contrib-zigbee2mqtt

Thank you for the prompt response.

I was able to load your "flow", so I could at least start understanding what I need to do. It may be helpful for others if you could create "files" with your flows, and upload them in a folder of the GitHub page for reference.

As I've tried to play with this, the first issue that I had was all the errors I was getting in the connection mqtt connection from node-red. I did have the required NPM package (node-red-contrib-zigbee2mqtt). I'm also having issues with just accessing the HA device nodes. I got a lot of "Error: getDevices timeout, close connection" error messages from the zigbee2mqtt input node, and I see a lot of client connections, e.g. 1 new connection every 10-30sec. Originally, I set up the mqtt and HA connections with no password... my z2m devices do not need a password currently to access mqtt, but this seems to generate a lot of these errors. Updating mqtt and using a real username/pw seems to have helped... but I don't know why.

When I wasn't using a username/password, I could find the z2mqtt devices after configuring the server (despite the errors), but I couldn't capture to a debug node any of the supposed data. Once I added the user/pw to the authentication, it seems that now I can get the mqtt messages, so now I can try some of the automations.

Do you have any experience with the authentication settings? Do you need to use a password between node-red and mqtt?

Good point, I'll post the flow code alongside the demo later.

My Authentication:

• HA: token authentication
• MQTT: no authentication.

Depends on your setup, you better have authentication for MQTT for security reasons.
For me, I have everything running in Docker, and MQTT is only accessible within the Docker bridge network that shared by HA, z2m, and NodeRED. That is to say, my MQTT server is not exposed to the outside world, not even to my LAN, so I am not worrying about security.
