error with egg_info when importing heatmappy

I am currently facing the same problem. It seems to be caused by the required Matplotlib version (1.5).

The problem does seem to be caused by the specific version of Matplotlib required (1.5.0), as @GustaveCoste mentioned. As far as I can tell, heatmappy does work with the latest version of Matplotlib as of now (3.1.1).

So as a workaround, I downloaded the source and changed requirements.txt to require matplotlib>=1.5.0 instead of ==1.5.0 and installed it with python setup.py install.

Nothing's broken for me yet.

I had same problem. But I can install by changing all condition letters in requirements.txt from == to >=
like matplotlib>=1.5.0 instead of ==1.5.0
