Re [Apps906](https://code.metoffice.gov.uk/trac/lfric_apps/ticket/906), I'm adding a few functions to [Apps971](https://code.metoffice.gov.uk/trac/lfric_apps/ticket/971). This issue is to raise these into PSyTrans as well as being on the LFRic Apps trunk.
