I use a player based on MPD to stream radio stations. The audio streams can be 16 or 24, bit, depending on the type of stream and the decoder used. |

For 24→16, MPD dithers. For 16→24, shifts 8 bits to the left, no arithmetic interpolation. That means MPD doesn't use the upper 0.4% of the available range. |
