Just a word to share my little
btmpc(Button MPD Client) daemon, to control MPD with local multimedia keys or AVRCP Bluetooth remote controllers.Basically,
btmpcmanages play/pause/prev/next/volume+- from any human interface device (HID), like a local keyboard or a bluetooth remote control, and even a modern all-in-one stereo amplifier with a IR remote, forwarding controls to Bluetooth. The Bluetooth mechanism is actually handled by the computer Bluetooth stack which btmpc is running on. Pairing with the remote control can be done with, for instance,
bluetoothctlon Linux. The source code of btmpc is on git.noise.rocks. It is written in C, using libinput, libudev, and libmpdclient.
