npm install not working with security framework provision script

during the provision process the following error is thrown

core_provision/security_framework_provision.sh: line 8: npm: command not found
core_provision/security_framework_provision.sh: line 9: npm: command not found
core_provision/security_framework_provision.sh: line 10: npm: command not found

Can you add npm and node to the $PATH variable after they have been installed.... possibly by using the source command.
