Since the goal of the site is to get more animals adopted, I think we should give users more information about the animal on captioned image pages. I think we should show thumbnails of the other photos of the animal (with, perhaps, the option to caption them) and a couple details like the animal's name and age. I think this could be done in a fun, friendly way, e.g. "Hi, I'm Kara and I'm a 5-year-old beagle. I've been waiting for a new human for more than a month!"
Obviously we shouldn't duplicate all of the information from the Animal Center web site, but I think a little more information can help users form an immediate, if small, connection to the animal that may drive more adoptions.
