Thanks for sharing this, @onnimonni. I'll take a look at your demo tool and get back to you. |

Dear @onnimonni Interesting tool overture-to-osm (or overturetoosm?). And thanks for the initiative: After all, OSM is the largest crowdsourced project — and will remain so in the future. I am curious to see Overture's response to the integration of their Places data into OSM. This question will give an indication of how open Overture really is. Please note, however, that some of the Overture Places data is of dubious quality (depending on the source) and may not meet OSM's quality standards. Regarding GERS: I don't think it's a good idea to attach a GERS ID to OSM objects. Mapping GERS=>OSM-ID seems to me to be a matter for Overture and already exists for other themes as separate mapping tables. P.S. I actually have another idea for you for a further improvement of the quality of Places/POIs in OSM: Find lists of e.g. finnish restaurants from original sources which comply with the OSM license. Write a spider for AllThePlaces (ATP) https://alltheplaces.xyz/spiders.html ! That would benefit everyone, OSM and whoever else. Then, for OSM, you would only have to extend Mateusz's code https://codeberg.org/matkoniecz/list_how_openstreetmap_can_be_improved_with_alltheplaces_data/src/branch/master/README.MD (aka “alltheplaces-to-osm”). |

Speaking about better UX in order to edit businesses in OSM, I assume you know MapComplete (https://mapcomplete.org) and "On OpenStreetMap" (https://www.onosm.org/) and OSMyBiz (https://osmybiz.osm.ch/ , edits currently not possible due to the login upgrade). And for mobiles there's EveryDoor (https://every-door.app) or Vespucci. |

I'll let you know when OSMyBiz has upgraded to the new OSM login. P.S. I almost forgot to mention this because it's so simple: just right-click on OSM.org to leave a note, which will then be added by mappers. |

Hi @onnimonni. The Overture Places data carries a CDLA Permissive 2.0 license. I would encourage you to review the license language but it is a permissive license. From Overture's perspective, the Places data can be ingested in to the OSM data. However, as part of the OSM data, the ingested data would then carry an ODbL license and would be subject to requirements of that license. |

Hey,
I went to a local restaurant here in Finland and I noticed that it doesn't exist at all in OSM.
I would want to add following OSM tags to it to help other people:
These tags are not supported in OvertureMaps and in order for me to add them I need to create the restaurant first into OSM.
Creating all of it manually feels like a wasted time and I thought that maybe I could use the already existing data in OvertureMaps to create it since this data anyway is there thanks to the restaurant owner adding it into Meta and thanks to Meta for sharing it back to the community 💪.
I created a demo tool: https://github.com/onnimonni/overture-to-osm which demostrates how I wish to use OvertureMaps.
Is this okay according to your license? Anything else you would want people like me to take in mind when adding items to OpenStreetMap?
I haven't yet added any places and I'm waiting to get some input from you. Thanks!
