One way to derive the confidence value is by counting the number of sources that contain matching data. If both TomTom and OSM have data with matching names, the confidence score will be high. Recent updates to the data will also boost the score. The confidence value simply indicates how certain they are that this location actually exists. |

Does anyone have any information and an understanding of how confidence scores for places are calculated? I have found examples of very different thresholds that people use (0.6 or 0.8, for example), but it is quite unclear to me how these values are arrived at. There also seem to be values that show strange clusters (e.g., 0.77 in some data from Microsoft) .
I think this is important for assessing data quality and making use of the provision of these confidence scores. I couldn't find anything about this in the documentation.
