Phase 1: Preparation & Sourcing

  • 20250828 Order tabletop tripod for better photos (Amazon, $30)
  • 20250828 Order more 10-pin headers (Amazon, $8)
  • Order New Keycaps (6x6mm) - Digi-Key, Mouser? (~$18)
    • Mail to Lee and Robert upon arrival
  • Gather all Components for photoshoot
    • Verify every part (PCBs, screws, resistors, 3D-printed parts) is on hand
  • Ask @ForrestErickson to 3D print parts
    • Controller enclosure
    • Interior Petrifilm holder
    • Interior heaterboard tray
    • Confirm print settings for reproducibility

Phase 2: Documentation Capture

  • Take high-quality exploded view photo
    • All components laid out neatly on a neutral background
  • Take Step-by-Step Assembly Photos for each major step
    • Soldering headers
    • Mounting heater board
    • Inserting Petrifilm holder
    • TK
  • Record short video clips of complicated assembly steps (for Github)
  • Organize all assets in a assembly_moonratII/ folder
    • Rename files descriptively

Phase 3: Documentation Authoring

  • Create assembly_moonratII.md file in the repository root
  • Draft instructions for each step:
    • Describe the action clearly
    • List all parts and tools needed for that step
    • Reference the corresponding photo/video
    • Note any warnings or easy-to-make mistakes
  • Tools Required section
  • Link to the final BOM

Phase 4: Review & Integration

  • Have another team member attempt build using only the instructions
  • Check for spelling, grammar, and consistent phrasing
  • Ensure assembly steps in paper match assembly_moonratII.md
  • Finalize repo structure and ensure all docs are committed
