max_time parameter doesn't seem to work for the featureSelection function

I've tried setting the max_time parameter to "5 mins" or to an interval of 5 and both function calls ran for well over 20 minutes.

@ericbrownaustin Can you provide some of the code and the specifics of the dataset? That would be really helpful to check out the issue.

I ran with the testing data and setting max_time to 5 mins runs for about 4 mins and 40 secs or something.

Sure.

I ran the following code on a data frame with 1459 observations an 231 variables.

featureSelection(data = data, target = "target_var", max_time = "1 mins", bootstrap = "regular", early_stopping = "none", cores = 3)

This also failed for me with the data generated by the demo code in the README on a MBP (4 cores).

Might the multiplication of cores by 4 here have anything to do with it.

It does not work for me, either, takes more than 10 minutes if I do the following:

test_ge <- featureSelection(data = train_sample,
                            target = "target",
                            max_time = "10 mins",
                            bootstrap = "regular",
                            early_stopping = "none",
                            cores = 8)
