Bug in assets()

assets() returns 400 bad request error unless type argument is specified. For example:

assets("uuid", type = list("document") works, but
aseets("uuid") doesn't

Problem also occurs when using interactive docs (not objr). Have reported to Objective Connect and awaiting response

Response from Objective (16/12/2025):

Attempting to filter on multiple type does not currently work and has been submitted as a defect.

In the meantime as a temporary solution, you can get all types by leaving the field empty.

As this has been accepted as a product defect but, as of now, I do not know when it will be scheduled for fixing, I have set the status of the OSI to Fix Unsched.

Interim fix:

• Change default to type = list(). This returns all asset types, as per previous default value (type = list("document", "link", "folder")).

• If more than one asset type is supplied (e.g. type = list("document", "link")), function stops and returns an error. Error directs users to this issue, and suggests using empty list (default) or one type only. Expected impact of this change is low - most users reverted to default value or one type only.

• This ensures the following common use cases of the function will continue to work as previously:

  • assets(workspace_uuid) still returns all asset types
  • assets(workspace_uuid, type = list("document")) still returns documents only

• The function will continue to work if the bug is fixed and previous functionality is restored.

If the bug if fixed, the error check can be removed, and users will again be able to supply lists of length > 1.

If the bug isn't fixed long term, it would be preferable to use type = c("all", "document", "link", "folder") to force users to only supply one value. However, this would be a breaking change.

I'll leave this issue open with the hope the underlying API bug will be resolved in the medium-term.
