I recommend using the connector described in the Victron documentation for connecting to the device. I personally also use an ADuM1201 for galvanic isolation, removal of ground loops and system voltage matching. Adds a little cost and quiescent power usage but makes it almost impossible to damage the Victron or the device that I attach to it...
