Calibration and sequencing issues #207

Hello and thanks in advance for reading and responding. I have been diligently going through past resolved issues but have not found any that match my situation that aren’t resolved by causes I have checked. I have no doubt the issues are there but I thought this might be faster. For context this is our third DIY module but our first two board module and the most chips we have ever had in a module . I am working with my 16 year old son to make his first synthesizer as a father son project. He has been making and writing music since he was 11 on DAWs.
Here are the symptoms: At first we were able to attenuate or calibrate the TM but it was at the far end of the pot at full CCW position. But then after we ran a slow signal from a VCO into the clock we couldn’t get the pot to react at all. Now when we rotate the pot CW or CCW it makes no difference to any tone coming in using the calibration method shown in the video at the end of the instructions. Meanwhile at the business end of the module, when we run a signal in even after we clear the pattern with the switch the lights and the notes all resolve to constant. Meaning, the main dial is set to 5 o’clock or completely CW and the pattern will quickly turn to all LEDs lit within 3 loops. This also occurs at 7 o’clock or full CCW. Also the length knob produces a loud pop when going from 12 to 8. When the length is set to 8 the tone produced has a lot of static or noise to it. The main knob or random doesn’t seem to effect how fast the pattern becomes completely filled or all LEDs are lit.
The noise Jack produces noise. We have checked the 57k and the 5.7k resistors. They are in the correct positions. The solder looks good from our limited experience but we have reflowed joints that were suspect.
