Add validation to IDs included in dataset params

Overview

We've recently had invalid files uploaded as dataset parameters in our WDK sites. These have not been rejected in validation, causing issues downstream. We would like to add basic validation to ensure IDs are restricted to the following characters:

• [0-9]
• [a-zA-Z]
• .
• -
• _
• :
• (
• )

We could alternatively wire up a regex parameter in the WDK model, though this would be a more considerable effort.

would be good to add a commit here before closing the issue, im not sure what got done..
i tested an ID search and i entered invalid IDs and i just got a step with fewer results...
i think the idea here was to add validation such that the user would have to reenter balid values.. but im not sure.. oi would need to recheck with outreach.. i think they liked us to be lenient..
