Moving the cursor in the center of the screen programmatically fails

I tried using ydotool mousemove -a $((width / 2)) $((height / 2)).

Using

read -r width height <<< $(wlr-randr --json | jq -r '
  .[] | select(.enabled) | .modes[] | select(.current) | "\(.width) \(.height)"')

to get the current dimension of the current active screen.

The current screen has no DPI scale and position is (0,0).
width and height in the script are correct but the cursor is not placed in the center of the screen, instead it clings in the bottom right corner (probably trying to go out of bounds).

Not sure where the issue comes from, and what would be a better way to do that if there is one?

We don't maintain ydotool here but you can always do this with wayfire IPC.

Tried that

from wayfire.core.template import get_msg_template
from wayfire import WayfireSocket

sock = WayfireSocket()

def center_cursor():
    message = get_msg_template("stipc/move_cursor")
    message["data"]["x"] = 100
    message["data"]["y"] = 100
    sock.send_json(message)

But it throws, do I need to activate stipc or something?

Yes, move_cursor is part of stipc.

@ammen99 I reverted to provide raw values to ydotool, but out of curiosity what's stipc, it didn't work on my end. Do I need to compile wayfire with it, or is it a python module I need besides pywayfire?

stipc is a plugin in wayfire's built-in collection of plugins, you can use it with pywayfire as well: https://github.com/WayfireWM/pywayfire/blob/d655332908a51f976a3313ba80a6c4a998c1fd9b/wayfire/extra/stipc.py#L33
