Thoughts on a way to hide all windows and restore all windows?

I'm thinking about a system where when the main window is hidden, all the other docking windows hide, then from the system tray when the main window is shown, all the dockable windows are shown.

            window.setVisible(true);
        }

        mainWindow.setVisible(false);

    }

I tried this, but when I reshow the windows, all the tabs are gone from the main window but not the dockable windows that are created.

That sounds odd. Do you have a componentHidden method somewhere that's undocking everything? I don't think there's any place where Modern Docking would undock like that (outside of floating) and a quick test doesn't seem to create the same behavior you're seeing.

I'm surprised I didn't think of it earlier. I guess I assumed you were hiding the main frame using your hideWindow. Which I just tried (by adding a new Hide option on the system tray) and that works just fine. Which is nice to confirm. I wasn't sure if setVisible(false) on a DISPOSE_ON_CLOSE frame would trigger a dispose.

Oh, I should mention that I saw #287 in here while checking out the issue. That is caused by your main running on the main thread and not the EDT.

Using the following fixes the issue (I'll still be addressing #287 with some ModernDocking changes as well):

    SwingUtilities.invokeLater(() -> {
        try {
            Main main = new Main();
            main.initWindow();
        }
        catch (Exception ex) {
            log.error("Unhandled exception", ex);
        }
    });
}

Thanks for the heads up. I'll play with that. I've never created windows on the EDT, always on the main thread. That is just me probably doing it wrong for years. I'll check it out.
