The window won't reopen once it's closed

Right now when the app is opened and you close it by clicking the X button or pressing CMD + W, when you press on the Dock icon afterwards it won't create a new window.

I tried fixing this by trying a couple of solutions I could think of but none of them seem to work. Can you look at it or point me in a direction to solve it?

Probably be best to place the current window inside of a window controller, instantiate that controller inside of the app delegate instead of the xib, then hook up a menu action to the app delegate which will open and close the window controller.
