Signboard 0.2.0 is the bare minimum set of features that I wanted to have prior to making this app public. Someone could conceivably use this to track some tasks and get things done. But I have a lot of ideas for where I want to take Signboard over time.
My goal is to be intentional, to keep things as simple as possible, to keep the Markdown files readable, and to have fun!
Here are a few things that are rattling around in my brain that I will likely build into Signboard (or, that someone else can and I'd likely merge them in).
Color labels on cards - This helps to easily identify cards when looking at an entire board. And making the labels generic (meaning, they can have any word label you'd like) makes them very flexible for everyone's use. These would be Board specific.
Due dates - Personally, I almost always have due dates associated with cards.
Calendar view - With due dates, it is nice to be able to see a calendar view of cards that have due dates.
Pomodoro Timer - Open a card, start a timer, get work done, alert when timer is over. Simple.
Rich editing in Notes area - This would give more flexibility to the Notes area than there is now.
Checklists in Notes area - This way any card can have several sub-tasks just by adding a check list to the note.
Date-based notes on Cards - Sort of like how Trello has comments. This would be the ability to add many notes and save the date they were created. Often during a project I'm jotting down little notes, and I'd like to know when I made them.
Maybe? A wildcard list:
Card history - A simple list detailing a card's history: creation, move between lists, duplications, notes edited, etc. etc. Just a long list of activity that happened to the card over time. You never know when it would be useful to have.
Tabs or Multiple Windows for multiple open boards - I'm sure people will ask for this. :)
One last thing that already exists but needs more work is Trello Import. This works kinda sorta. If you create a new directory and drop a trello.json export file in it and use Signboard to create a new Board, it will import the lists, card titles, and some of the card contents. But it is far from complete. So if someone wants to tackle that, please do!
