Pager does not load if it contains a <script>

I am seeing a problem with a page loading if javascript is included in the header of the page. In my case, it is an image gallery with a lightbox ( Clearbox, PrettyPhoto, etc) but it occurs with other scripts as well it seems. Here is a demo page (yours) with the same page with and without a script in the head:
