Description
Ticking the 'Remember me' checkbox when logging in affects nothing. This currently makes it redundant. When fixed it will make a more convenient login system for the users.
Context
There is a 'Remember me' checkbox below the login form. It is supposed to remember your session for the next time you come to the website but currently it isn't working.
Process
[ordered list the process to finding and recreating the issue, example below]
- User goes to website's login page
- User enters login credentials and ticks the 'Remember me' checkbox
- User logs in
- After a period of time the user comes back but is not remembered, so must log in again.
Expected result
We expect that when we return to the website after ticking the 'Remember me' box we will be automatically logged in, if we haven't manually logged out.
Current result
Currently, you do not get automatically logged in if you tick the box, you still must enter your details every time.
Possible Fix
- Check for the checkbox contents when processing the form data
- Have an additional or edited cookie given when the checkbox is ticked
