Having to unlock and run the app introduces some friction that adds up over time.
Describe the solution you'd like
Waking the phone and showing an overlay (even on top of the lockscreen) with a simple button/slider (or even hardware buttons) acknowledge big Badlands-style chug.
I noticed Tasker can add tasks as native shortcuts to the lockscreen so that could be handy too, unless they require unlocking the device.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Water Tracker - Water Reminder had a nice widget, but now it requires the pro version and it's riddled with ads. 🤢
Additional context
Music players and navigation apps like Osmand often have a fullscreen UI on top of the lockscreen so perhaps just allowing the whole app to be shown on top of the lockscreen when a reminder notification is triggered might be easier to implement and just as handy.
