Why are Mobile or Tablet devices "prohibited"?

Looking at the code in https://github.com/darkforest-eth/client/blob/master/src/Frontend/Utils/BrowserChecks.ts there is a prohibition for using mobile or tablet devices. Can someone explain why that is?
