Would it be possible to implement also a write_trxm method? So that a user can read a trxm file containing the data and metadata from a trxm file (already implemented with the read_trxrm method), then make some alterations and write a new txrm file with the same format as the original so it can be read by the Zeiss software.

@antonyvam the txrm reader was created without any help from Zeiss. There is no documentation about this file format. I will share this pull request with my contact at Zeiss to see if they can provide documentation and/or access to their writer code. If they make this information available I will add a txrm write. I think is a very good idea.
