Can't execute AoW: SM via Email Wrapper

Hello,
on the whole, the program works perfectly. However, I cannot open AoW: SM from the taskbar or from Activity Log.
It starts, and the window closes before the game has started properly. Any ideas? Anything I can test to obtain more information about the issue?

I'm using Windows 10 and the GOG version of the game.
