Check for new fingerprints via sending CryptoObject in authorization method is not working on Android 8 and lower

Could you please elaborate what exactly you want to accomplish or what is not working there?

Calling the authenticate function with a cipher (within a CryptoObject) as implemented in the provided sample application works for me on both Android 7.0 (API 24) and Android 8.0 (API26).

Have you checked it in the sample with added new fingerprint in Phone Settings?

KeyPermanentlyInvalidatedException must be thrown after this action (that was described above) when you calling cipher.init(mode, key)
