Description
I would like to propose several enhancements that would significantly improve usability and note organization in Flatnotes:
-
Colored Headers and Body Text
The ability to use colored headers (H1, H2, etc.) and optionally colored body text would make notes much more visually structured and easier to scan. For users with large collections of notes, color-coding helps quickly differentiate sections, highlight key information, and improve overall readability. -
Search and Replace Functionality
A native search-and-replace function within the note editor would streamline content editing and refactoring. This is especially useful for users who frequently update structured notes, rename terms, or refactor recurring text patterns across multiple notes. -
Tag-Based Organization with Saved Searches
While Flatnotes does not currently support a folder or subfolder hierarchy, tags could serve as a powerful organizational alternative if expanded:
• Allow users to create saved searches (for example, all notes with a certain tag combination).
• Display these saved searches or frequently used tags in a dedicated sidebar, enabling quick navigation and acting as a pseudo-folder system.
This approach would maintain Flatnotes’ simplicity while offering users a scalable way to categorize and retrieve notes.
Together, these features would improve navigation, enhance editing capabilities, and make Flatnotes more effective for users managing large, structured collections of notes.
