rsync transfers my images in full rather than the difference

Hello, I have not looked into it very much yet, just asking to know if this is common.

I realized that when I sync my images, they are rsynced in full, not just the difference. Then I thought if the image is gzipped then rsync will have difficulty in finding out the difference. And I stumbled on this thread: https://superuser.com/questions/482758/rsync-friendly-gzip which makes sense.

Am I the only one that get images rsynced in full? Are they gzipped in a rsync friendly manner?
