No packages linking to `sp`

May I try to remove the infrastructure for linking to sp C code originally needed for rgdal and rgeos?

No, but I looked at possible R_NO_REMAP fallout, and noticed that dropping the xport copy would reduce the number of changes that would be needed.

That sounds like a great idea, pls go ahead, there are no CRAN packages linking to sp (anymore).
