Matches auto increasing on a static page

I have only just started to use this and it seems to be working will in Chrome but in Edge, not so much
Im only using a single web page and it seems to be increasing the amount of matches by re-formatting/highlighting the same elements over and over again.

The same web page in Chrome is fine, it finds 260 matches
In Edge, it starts with around the same figure but every 1 or 2 seconds it increases by around 100, going as high as 5k+

Apologies if this is already listed somewhere, I didn't find anything obvious

I presume em is what is added by this, I can see it in the source when I stop it replicating:
