Hi Professor Mockus. I'm having trouble running the commands on part D. For some of the commands that take a long compute time, I will lose connection with the docker and given a message "connection reset by peer" after about 30 minutes of sitting idle. Is there anything you recommend that I do?

For part D you are supposed to start with

python3 getD.py...

What exactly hangs?

Once I Get to the line "rff=randomForest(trainfX,y=trainfY)" it will run for maybe 30-45 minutes or so and then disconnect me from the docker container. Maybe because I've been inactive on the console. But everything else to that point has worked fine to my knowledge. And yes sir the getD command was my starting point.

Perhaps you can use fewer variable for randomForest, so it finishes more rapidly?

Also, you can run it in the notebook if the container gets disconnected (could be a firewall on your side)

If you prefer command line, use tmux or screen

How could I run it through the Jupiter notebook? If I do that can I run it and then log out so my computer doesn't have to be on during the calculations?

• connect to docker on da2 via ssh
• in a browser open http://localhost:8888/tree?
• go to right folder, i.e., Miniproject3
• create new R notebook (new -> R)
• paste code to want to run
• run it (via Run)
