Description
Currently using area and auto fire does not consume ammo, when it should.
This is currently not implemented since the amount consumed by auto fire is variable based on the targets. Furthermore, the primary target of area fire does not consume ammo, whereas it does for auto fire. We could make strikes for area fire not consume, but there are ways to strike without area fire with these weapons which should consume. These complications means that it might never be possible for us to actually implement consumption in practice, but perhaps after improvements to spells and target acquisition this may become possible.
A soldier's primary fire damages the creature being hit the most by an area attack. With an area (burst, cone, or line) weapon, the soldier does not use additional ammunition and additional damage from the boost trait only applies to everyone in the area fire once. If you choose to use Primary Target, the Primary Target will get the additional damage rather than the targets in the Area Fire. When using an automatic weapon, the soldier does need to spend additional ammunition and the boost trait would only apply to the primary target.
