Dear GeoSim,
Very nice plugin - just the functions for Dimensioning seem somewhat odd. Maybe I just dont understand it?

With DIMSTYLE, I can modify the Sample_Data without problems. I can save the Dim_Sym and Dim_Line in another file, and utilize those. But if I save the sample Dim_Text file and reload the copy, that would not appear in the DIMSTYLE dropdown menu... but instead be offered in the Symbol file dropdown. Is there anything that cannot be saved with the Dim_Text file?

Likewise, I have not managed to create a Dim_Text file that is recognized by DIMSTYLE. I was successful for both the symbol and line file. I am not using SQL, so have no knowledge about how to use the console...

Any idea what I am dealing with?

Hi Arnold, from QAD help: "QAD supports all types of vector layers of QGIS with a distinction regarding the point layer. In fact, QAD manage layers of QGIS distinguishing between symbols layers and text layers. The first display symbols while the second display texts. The text layer is a layer that displays labels only. It is a QGIS point layer with the following characteristics: 1. the symbol must have a minimum of 90% transparency 2. must have a label Layers that are not textual will be considered as symbol layers. I'm trying to use QAD Dimensioning. The plugin needs to create 3 entities:
Line --> kind of entity: line
Symbols-arrows --> kind of entity: point
Text --> kind of entity: ??????

Can you tell me what kind of entity I need, please?

Hello everyone,

Ive got pretty much the same problem. However, in the configuration I cant even use the dropdown for the text layer:

The dropdown just wont open or show anything. I thought its because the point shape for the text layer has the wrong configuration, but it does not. Its exactly how it should be. I used the sample .shp "dim_text" that comes with the repository and activated label, set label field to "text" while opacity is 100%. Still nothing. These are the fields of dim_text:

I just dont know whats wrong. Tried QGIS 3.10 LTR and QGIS 3.22.2. Same issue with both. Runs on Windows 10.

Really hope someone could help me with this.

Hi gam17,
many thanks for your reply. This did the trick actually. For some reason I thought that opacity needs to be 90% minimum and just conflicted the terms opacity and transparency.
So, thanks for the quick fix.

I am not able to set dim_text layer.

Layers dim_text, dim_symbol and dim_line are created using the sql scripts from the documentation.

I have also uploade here these layers saved as shp files together with the project.

Hello All, I have managed to install QAD on QGIS 3.24.0-Tisler and have it running. I can see the dimensions, but the moment I save the layer the dimmension text resets to 0(zero). I have figured it has something to do with layers needed in dimension style manager to store the information. I have tried to create the layers manually and was “successfully” with some. I am struggling to run the SQL code provided in the QAD help document. Since I do not have any coding language experience, I just copy and paste the code into the SQL window in DB manager. Run it and get errors back. My profession is drafting with CAD and preparing/retrieving GIS-Data provided by government portals. Kindly help me set the QAD layers correctly.
