What is /data/structures/*.yaml is it important, and where is the documentation on it?

Noticed in several mods the inclusion of a folder /data/structures and inside of it is what appears to be a schema file in yaml describing the arguments accepted for a specific short code. I have searched around a little for references to it and came up empty-handed.

If someone could just point to the documentation on it, or provide a few sentences explaining it.

Is it just a Yaml implementation of a Json schema syntax?

These files are used to validate partial / shortcode arguments. In addition, the gethinode.com website uses these files to generate the argument documentation.
