Credit Card Fees?

Are there fees when donating with Credit Cards through Stripe? If not, then this is a non-issue.
It seems like there would be fees, but there was no indication of any fees in Colabor or Stripe's payment flow.

Yea, there are, and are covered by the receiver rather than the donor.

If there's an option available with less fees, the donor would see this:

Which explains the fees as motivation for choosing a different option. But if there's no option apart from card payment then it doesn't mention the fees to not dissuade donors since they can't do anything about it. But there may need more clarity there, will have a think.

Okay, that makes sense. I was seeing this (without the fee warning) since there were no other options:

This screen a couple pages (at first clance) before led me to believe that there would be no fees at all, but I guess it does mention bank fees at the bottom.

The "100% of your donation will go to the fundraiser" part may need to be clarified.

There are probably some further recommendations/clarifications that could be made when using credit card: I.e. if I'm donating to gracious tech and I'm paying in USD with credit card, there would be the normal credit card fee in addition to a foreign transaction fee (for most cards).
The foreign transaction fee can be very expensive for some cards, but for others like my discover card, there are no foreign transaction fees. This probably should be mentioned so the user can check their specific card for the associated fees.

As far as fees for the donor goes, they can select their currency when setting the amount which should avoid fees for them.

Stripe does have currency conversion fees at a pretty standard rate

I see now. It all gets pretty confusing since in my case we would be better off if I chose AUD (despite my currency being USD), since my credit card charges 0 foreign transaction fees.

In most cases, like you said, it would probably be better to choose your local currency when donating to let Stripe take their cut.

Great work on this project. I'm not trying to be critical, just a noisy early adopter :P

All good, thanks for the feedback. Maybe it can say "The fundraiser's currency is X" below the box.

It does all get confusing, especially as payment methods vary greatly by country. Australia has zero fees for bank transfers to anyone, so it's always a better option than cards. Where as not so in other countries.
