JSON results are bloated -- 4mb or so, frequently -- by the inclusion of very long blocks of description. Perhaps only include those blocks by specific request.

Related to this issue, it'd be helpful to be able to simply get the number of search results for a given query. E.g., for searching on "wind" faceted by articles and books there are (making up number) 2000 total results.

Currently there doesn't seem to be a fast way to get such info from the API.

+1 for getting the number of results, although I believe it’s already included in inconvenient form under the “last” key. E.g.: “last” : " https://greencommons.herokuapp.com/api/v1/search?q=&page=5198&per=10"
