Add version number to the embedded screen

It would be good to add some more information to the embedded screen. If a screen is connected, that is sometimes the only information available to the user.

Bonus, maybe for a later date: a View Log button, that when pressed, shows the application log (to troubleshoot where things hang, etc.)

That would be great, but right now there is no touch support, so it would be a bigger project.
