RE: It is straightforward to update Ubuntu. You can run the software updater from the menu (press the Windows key and search for software updater):
On my computer this is what I had to do:
- on left side of the screen choose and run the software updater
- from running software updater choose "Settings"
- then choose "Ubuntu Software"
Do not see any searchable menu as you show, only tabs at top of page.
